TVC Graffiti Free Thirroul - Minutes and Actions

SCOPE:

To report and control illegal graffiti vandalism in the Thirroul area. Aim for ‘Graffiti Free Thirroul’.

DISCUSSION

Offensive graffiti (Kill Men) in laneway beside Cucina Café, LHD, Thirroul. Lucy spoke to owners of café but nothing has happened. Tony H reported the graffiti to council 7Aug19, asking them to approach the owner about removing the graffiti. Followup email sent 18Nov19.
Graffiti on private property Redman Rd/King St (apartment complex beside Anitas theatre) has not been removed yet. Peter S to investigate further.
Lengthy discussion about what to do about Station St Thirroul wall opposite the school. See attached pics. Letter from council 14Aug19 to Ryan Park says the council are unwilling to do anything about the graffiti at this time. All agree that the ANZAC mural should remain. The Thirroul Neighbourhood Centre (TNC) panel is ruined by graffiti. Tony H to engage with TNC for their input on what can be done (does Murray have any contacts there?). Seek councils advice of who actually owns the wall? We could ask TfNSW if they could remove the graffiti on the next trackwork weekend? Peter S offered to measure the wall to determine square meters of paint required to overpaint. (see images and letter below)
